Supplements
Taking supplements is a good way to help ensure your body receives all of the vitamins, minerals and nutrients it needs, although it is best to take in the majority of your daily nutrients through a well-balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits and vegetables. (*Warning: Some supplements can interfere with the effectiveness of certain medications. Be sure to consult your physician or holistic practitioner if you currently take medication or as otherwise appropriate.)
You should opt for high quality supplements, which at a minimum, means Certified Organic and/or Non-GMO. Supplements that are made in the USA, especially at a GMP facility, are also preferable. Other indicators of quality include the following terms: vegan, vegetarian, kosher, plant-based, whole food; and free of preservatives, artificial colors and flavors.
As a general rule, almost everyone can benefit from taking a high quality multivitamin on a daily basis. There are also many other supplements that may or may not be helpful for you depending on your individual circumstances. Below, we have provided a list of various supplements, along with some of the ways they may benefit the body. But keep in mind that this is only an introduction which barely scratches the surface on the topic of supplements.
